Black Tea Blend
Produced using the same technique behind Taiwan’s celebrated honey black teas, careful oxidation brings out a natural honey sweetness and a delicate floral character.
This blend is softly aromatic with minimal tannins. It is made entirely from cultivars grown in Saitama.
The composition changes each year and may include up to nine Saitama-bred cultivars, depending on what was ready for black tea production at harvest. Each batch becomes a one-season expression of the region’s distinctive genetics.

Saitama
The region’s tea farms stretch across a rolling landscape of fields. Saitama’s cooler climate slows leaf growth, concentrating flavor and building the robust, full-bodied character its tea has been known for since the Edo period. A traditional saying captures it well: Uji for color, Shizuoka for aroma, Sayama for taste.
Saitama is also home to cultivars developed specifically for its climate. Varieties such as Sayamakaori, Hokumei, and Yumewakaba thrive in cooler conditions and bring aromas not found in mainstream cultivars such as Yabukita.
Our Saitama black tea blend is made from these cultivars. The result is a tea rooted in this place and shaped by a producer who has spent decades learning what the region’s distinctive genetics can do.
